Just two young souls, growing old.
Updated: Sep 24

August of 2012, these two young, naive, 19-year-olds met through mutual friends and have been inseparable since...
We moved in together January of 2013; you know when you have that moment where you know that this person is YOUR person... that's how we felt. 14 years later, we are still here and each other's persons... and man, the things that we've gone through would break a lot of people.
Lets back up:
2013, I was going to college, he was working and we lived with my father in a 2-bedroom apartment in Massachusetts. We made the plan, that I'll finish college, we'd get an apartment and get engage before we even think about starting a family... I mean we were only 19 at the time.
lets fast forward 3 years... well we got engaged October 2015; this was the best day of my life. We went to Puerto Rico for his sisters Quinceanera.

Item one on the check list to start a family - check.
March of 2016, we moved into our first apartment together - check
May of 2016, I graduated College with bachelor's in criminal justice, I had a job at a courthouse and things were going perfect according to our plan.
I got my birth control out of my body and we began trying to start our family.
Fast forward 3 years I think I was about 25 years old at this time... still trying doctor after doctor and every single doctors just kept saying "you're young, don't worry it will happen"
well lets fast forward 3 more years, I'm 28 years old now, we have officially moved to New Hampshire the year prior, and I finally found this amazing doctor who actually took the time to listen to me and ran all the tests she could.
Officially diagnosed with Hypothyroidism / Hashimoto's and possibly PCOS but should couldn't tell for sure on the PCOS.
wow SOME answers.
but no guidance, advise or how to fix this.
Well, lets fast forward to 2 more years, we decide to move to Florida.
I know, I know, we move a lot.
Primary doctors, nutritionists, fertility specialists all of the doctors and we find out at the ripe age of 30..... 8 YEARS OF TRYING. I had pelvic inflammatory disease, blocked fallopian tubes, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's, PCOS.
oh ... wow... I wonder if they ran all these tests and ultrasounds when I was 22-25 how many kids we'd have by now.
We began IVF in 2023, and it has been a long ... tiring 3 years.
First two years was a lot of blood work, ultrasounds, had to lose weight, and 2026 this was our year we are SOO CLOSE.
Had our egg retrieval in February 2026... 38 eggs. I couldn't believe it
22 of them fertilized and 16 of them became embryos!!
Finally, things were happening, things were going great.
we got 6 of them tested and we had 3 boys and 2 girls.

May 2026... I had to get a laparoscopy and a hysteroscopy to check my tubes, and remove any cysts, fibroids.
July 20th.... todays the day, we transferred our FIRST baby!
Here came the planning, the due dates, the names, all of the things when you are pregnant.
we decided to tell our families before we even knew if it stuck.
July 29th... we lost our baby, it didn't stick. I'm not going to tell you the sex, because my husband has decided that he didn't want to know what it was for his own mental health, but I asked the doctor for me... and man did it make me spiral.
When the doctor called that afternoon, immediately I was like we are not waiting sign us up for the next transfer.
August 24th ... second transfer and we lost that baby also.
What was I doing wrong, why won't my perfectly graded healthy eggs stick.
as of now, we are waiting until the end of the year. I'm working on going gluten & dairy free, exercising to try and lower the inflammation that is in my body. Then we shall try again and again and again if we have too.
That is a short version of our story for the last 14 years and I'm hoping that within the next two years we can finally have the blessing and the baby that we have been dreaming of.
Time will tell, if you have advice, or your own story you'd like to share please!!
